A common side effect from Laser Hair Removal is darkening of the skin in the treatment area. This is because the area is exposed to light (similar to sun exposure) which in certain skin types can result in darkening, similar to a sun tan. Like a sun tan, this will lighten over time. If this is a concern for you, we offer skincare products that will protect the treatment area from experiencing this side effect.
Other more rare side effects can include a histamine response which is an allergic response to a destroyed (burnt) hair being lodged in the hair follicle which your body attempts to purge. This response is normal but can be quite intense in very rare individuals. Please speak to your clinic if you believe you are experiencing a histamine response.
